Imagine George If we were able to wipe out all our past mistakes and start over …
If we could erase all those violent thoughts that suddenly surfaced against those who had been cruel or hurt us or even worse …
What does our society and its righteous religious majority allow us to feel about the people who destroyed the lives of our children through acts of persection or rape or even war?
We are told to kneel and beg forgiveness and forgive and forget.
So whatever a guard is ordered to do … Can we blame the guard for not refusing. Refusing to follow orders might even cause you to lose your job.
And where do those orders come from? People come and go … Names change …
The guards were just doing their job I imagine. Everybody has to have a job.
If you have no job, how can you feed your kids? You need money. Food is not free, even Even if you only want to buy a jar of peanut butter.
There was a time when peanut butter was a good way of offering nourishment to your child. A parent would send the child off to school with a peanut butter and jam sandwich and an apple, confident that both food and school provided what the child needed to grow into a healthy happy citizen.
When exactly did schools begin to dictate to parents that they would decide what was best for every child? Was it about the same time that children began to dump their home-made lunches into the nearest garbage bin and feed on whatever was offered by the closest machine or counter?
When exactly did the social engineers begin to replace the parents? Was it about the same time that teachers were expected to become custodians. And when did warehousing kids became preferable to inspiring them? And for the odd child who tried to fight this system because she knew it was wrong? What about her? What happened to her?

Try looking a little harder and try questioning people who really do know something about it. My words are merely the words of someone who is concerned that we as a society are just sitting back and doing very little to create a better world for the next generation. Too bad because they will remember what we did or did not try to do.

Terrific post? Sadly, Ashley did not receive the help she needed while she was a child. She was caged up for years before she finally died. Would this happen to a dog?
Perhaps what we really need would be a Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children … If it became as popular as the S.P.C.A. … that I would consider worthy of being called “terrific”.

Sorry, I cannot help you. I gleaned what I could from various news items and government reports I was able to find and read over the past several years. I cannot even send links to these because they were on another computer that crashed.
I did recently hear that someone has a theatre production underway. If you check with CBC they might have more information.

As I see things, most people nowadays are neither willing nor able to discuss or work for or actually support anything that might actually be beneficial to society … That is … Unless they are being well paid and chalking up points on their pension. They might pretend to support something as long as it involves no more effort than a click on facebook. They might even send a positive comment as long as they can be seen to be supporting something that falls under ho-hum poli-corectness. But to actually get out there and work to change things for the better … No longer happening …

I am not sure how to reply to this. I just use the WordPress Template and I guess it is an intuitive process. I am not sure whether html is involved to any great degree. Sorry I cannot be of more help but I am not a Techie. I write and do art.

Today, I went to the beach front with my
children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.”
She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a
hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally
off topic but I had to tell someone!

I have never understood why anyone would make up such stories when there must be a better explanation for the sound a child hears when her ear is covered by a seashell, but that really has nothing much to do with being pinched by a hermit crab, at least, not in my personal experience. Also totally off topic but somebody has to ask difficult questions when it comes down to protecting children. My question is: what sort of society do we live in where it is acceptable to treat a child like Ashley Smith was treated then scapegoat the poor guards at the bottom of the food chain?

Actually My views are ones I have found difficult to express. I believe the guards were also victims of this system. I hope, that if similar circumstances were to arise again, the guards would be screaming out to the Canadian government and media and the Canadian people as well as their unions to do do something to prevent another person from the years of pain experienced by Ashley Smith. … Or was that Smyth … Or was she just another number so protected by bureaucracy that one might also conclude that Privacy Laws had helped choke her to death. I would hope also that the Elizabeth Fry Society would tell us what they did for Ashley all those years and what they are doing for other young women in similar situation. I would hope that our government would tell us what they did to help the child before she reached the point of no return.
My views? How could I possibly have simple uncomplicated views about things that are so secretive that I must search for weeks and months and even years for the truth, to discover that a mother is facing health problems and financial ruin in order to be able to afford the energy and resources to find out what happened to the child that our system recommended to be taken into “protective custody”, probably adding “for her own good” as the saying goes.

Accurate? I am not sure. I read so many conflicting media blurbs over the years. The impression I came away with was that media is interested more in shock-bites than in truth these last years. I have yet to find out what Kim Pate and the Elizabeth Fry Society did to help Ashley. I am still not clear on why she was shifted from prison to prison. I cannot understand why she had drugs forced onto her. I have seen no indication that she was being rehabilitated or educated in order for her to function as a Canadian citizen outside of a prison. Everything I read leads me to wonder whether she might have been part of a social experiment being conducted outside the rules of informed consent, one that had gone very wrong.

That was almost 6 month ago … Never did receive a reply … Why am I not surprised … Something so useful? I do receive all sorts of messages about how I might lose weight, improve my penis length … Soorrrry … Don’t have one of those … And no I don’t envy any of those women undergoing reconstructive surgery … Surgury … Whatever … To improve their sex lives.
I also receive messages telling me I should have a better attitude, support little black babies and pray to Jesus …. Cough cough … Sorry folks … Yes I bent my head, I did … thank you no … You may keep your good news for modern man and your watchtower … yes I am sure they do do make you feel safe because you have a monopoly on the truth and it doesn’t matter anyway you say because the world is ending soon and your god is going to send down thunderbolts and floods and famine and plague an ….
