Need it for Gerry
Need it now
Well no rest
For the wicked
As I’ve been called
No rest
No rest at all

Gerry needs it
So said he
To wake the demise
Of Democracy
To test our heads
To stretch our souls
Across the hole
Across the abyss
To knit the net
To catch all those
Democracy missed

Ship Ahoy

Ship Ahoy
Well now George this is the way I see it.
Canada is one big pirate ship.
All that land? The land confiscated for highways and by-ways … Hmm that how you spell by-ways, or would you say, call it buy-ways? No matter, Buddy, you get the gist. Then there were all those tracts of land grabbed from poor farmers way way back when the railway was put through their land. Land they had paid for with blood and sweat when they settled there.

No George. The farmers did not steal the land from the Indians. The farmers were merely the pawns in the larger scheme of things. They were promised a better life here and had no idea, no way of knowing that the land they were allotted might have been stolen from the previous owners. So they worked their family farms for generations, improving the land from rocky scrub to rich fertile soil.

So what happened when the railway lines were shut down? The original owner-farmers were long dead. Some of them may even have lost their lands during the Great Depression. Who do you suppose benefitted from the sale of those previously confiscated lands? And what about all those tracts of forest land and agricultural land that were sold or given off to friends of friends of whichever politician had pet projects over the years? Crown land, George? Has anyone ever asked what happened to all that Crown Land and the timber and minerals? Who raped the benefits there, George? No, I did not mean reaped? Raped is what I said. Raped is the exact word I mean.
Then there was the fish, George. Remember the cod fisheries? The sly promises Canada made to Newfoundland before the Pirates came in with their rapiers? Whatever, George. You know what I mean.

That George is what I mean when I say that Canada is one big Pirate Ship.

So, what was it they used to do with all the booty at the end of a voyage? Am In mistaken or did they divy up the loot?

Do you think maybe the time has come for everyone of us to get our fair share, George?

Circle of Life … Economic life that is

The jobs are going? going? gone?
Businesses closing down?

People need jobs?
Workers need businesses?
Businesses need workers?
Businesses need customers?
Customers need products?

Businesses are needed to supply goods and service
Because
Without businesses there are no goods and service

So … If a community wants to have a flourishing business district, It looks like
People need to become customers

Customers are needed to support businesses
Because
Without customers businesses cannot survive

People become customers when they have money to support businesses which in turn supply customers with products and service and hire people as workers. Without customer support, businesses shut down and there are fewer jobs for workers.

Workers (People or robots) are needed in businesses
Because
Businesses need workers to keep functioning

Businesses need to hire people.
People need to become customers
Customers need to support businesses
Businesses need to be profitable

Hmmmm … the Circle of economy …

Heard any good economist jokes lately?

Basic Income Supporters
From: Ann Withorn (Massachusetts) and Liane Gale (Minnesota)
Re: Basic Income Women Action Group (BIWAG)

As a response to the February 2015 NABIG Congress in New York City, we released the attached statement to announce the formation of this group. Since then, while also building local Basic Income chapters, we have been spreading the word about BIWAG to Basic Income activists, primarily women. We have also established a FB group – Basic Income Women Action Group. The FB group has not been very active so far

We are establishing a Planning Group that will help BIWAG be more focused and expand our reach. Are you interested in joining a conference call to discuss the future of BIWAG?

Please share this invitation with anyone whom you think would be interested in joining this effort. Also, we aren’t excluding men from the call, so if someone knows an interested BI man who would like to support this effort, please tell us, and we’ll send an explanatory invite.

Reply to either of us by e-mail,
Ann Withorn (withorn.ann@gmail.com), Liane Gale (liane.gale@gmail.com) or feel free to call Ann at 617-515-8177

Birthday Bash For Jacque

Are you going?

Or are you coming?

What’s the difference?

As long as there is a bash for Jacque’s 100th Birthday Party next March 2016?

Jacque who?

The Jacque who said …

Something about politics being a little round and a little flat?

Not quite …

Please if you quote

Try your best

Get it right

Hmmm … That song again

Jacque must know that song
… From younger years …
Better times … something like …
“I don’t want to start a revolution
I just want to Change the world … ”
Well … After all … he tried

And he tried

And tried

All those door handles

He must have

Tried to turn.

Warning Warning

Who hates Baby Boomers?

But why?

What did we do?

The big pensions?
That was the previous generation

Baby Boomers are not all so lucky
You will not be so lucky
Unless you are a civil servant …
Unless you are a politician …
An Indian chief per …

NO ! It cannot be true …

Let’s calm down … Take a deep breath

Slowly … Start again

The big pensions?
That was the previous generation
You will not be so lucky
Unless you are a civil servant …
Unless you are a politician …
An Indian chief per

You are repeating yourself

What was that about $100,000.00 a year?

Who gets paid $100,000.00?

… now that hardly seems fair when a senior gets $560 a month in old age pension.

Yes … You know OAP … Or would that be OAS for Old Age Security no matter … It is still little more than $560 per month

sigh

If you are
Getting old
If you are a Baby Boomer
Especially if you
Are a parent
Who has stayed at home
To raise a family.
Think the Government of Canada
Is there for you?
Think Service Canada
Is about to help?

And yes I did hear the story

The one about the Indian chief
Raking in $100,000.00 a year.
Cannot be true …
What sane government would do that?
Offer a retiring senior 560 odd dollars a month
While paying some Indian Chief over $9,000
During that same month
No no no it really cannot be
Wouldn’t that be a sure way to fire up a revolution?

Hmmm … Yes the song … I well remember it …
… From younger years …
Better times … something like …
“I don’t want to start a revolution
I just want to Change the world … ”
Well … After all …
They never really had to worry about money …

Did they?
